I painted Dalí because sometimes art needs to be fearless, even absurd, to wake us up. He showed me that seriousness and play can share the same canvas — that you can bend reality until it breaks, and still call it truth. This portrait is a wink in his direction, a nod to the mischief that kept him brilliant.
