He’d crack a smile, pour a beer, and remind you that life — like his paintings — is meant to be messy, alive, and full of colour. He painted the country with a laugh in his brush, rivers snaking across the canvas like stories that never quite finished.

I painted John because he was, and still is, one of the best in the world. This portrait is my way of sitting with a brother in art — someone who walked the stage I intend to walk, showing me it’s possible to celebrate chaos and beauty in the same breath.
