This painting refuses subtlety — beginning with its name.
Clit was built through cycles of intensity: layer, scrape back, rebuild, disrupt. Nothing about the process was polite. Earlier colours were buried but never silenced, pushing back through the surface so that the whole painting hums with a charged, almost luminous vibration.
It was made quickly and instinctively, with vigour guiding the hand more than any fixed plan. The gestures are assertive. The colour relationships pulse. There is tension between exposure and concealment — between what is seen immediately and what reveals itself slowly.
The title is deliberate. Direct. Anatomical. Historically ignored, euphemised, or made uncomfortable. Naming the work this way is not shock for the sake of shock — it’s an insistence on presence.
